What to wear

Putting Equestrian Sport into the heart of your school

We encourage members to look well turned out, without going to great expense to do so. Clean boots, tidy hair etc costs nothing but time. It is the responsibility of the Team Manager to ensure that their riders are dressed correctly, according to the rules (B.E/ BSJA, etc) and safely (e.g.correct hat, no jewellery, tidy hair etc).

It is also their job to ensure that the horses are equally well turned out- well groomed, plaited & tack cleaned. Don’t forget the saddle cloth too. Promote your school. Use a square white saddle cloth and get your school to embroider their name/ crest on to it.

NSEA Competitions

Please note, the following dress code are guidelines only.

Show Jumping

Tweed, navy or black jackets or school blazer.
Shirt & tie or stock shirt
Beige or white breeches/ jodhpurs,
Black or brown boots. Half chaps may be worn with short boots.
Gloves.
Hair to be worn above the collar. Hairnets for longer hair-no loose pony tails.

Dressage

Tweed, navy or black jacket or school blazer.
Shirt and tie or stock shirt,
Beige or white breeches/ jodhpurs,
Black or brown boots. Matching half chaps may be worn with short boots
Gloves.
Hair to be worn above the collar. Hairnets for longer hair- no loose pony tails

Cross Country / Eventer's Challenge/ Arena Eventing

XC shirt, or sweatshirt ( no hoods) long sleeved. These can be school sweatshirts or games shirts or skins (ie rugby or hockey tops)
Approved Body Protector,
Approved XC Skull Cap,
Beige breeches/ jodhpurs, Boots – either long or short with leather chaps(black or dark brown),
Hairnets. Note – hair must be tied up above collar length
Gloves

Grass Roots

Approved hat or Skull Cap (no fixed peak for XC)
Johdpurs and johdpur boots.
